Update on the government’s announcement to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns – 2022

ITR due date assessment year 2022-23

Fill out your income tax return right away if you haven’t already. July 31 is the deadline for submitting an income tax return. You must now file your income tax return by July 31 in any event because the government has obviously refused to renew the deadline. As per the Revenue Secretary, there are no plans at this time for the government to extend the date of filing ITR before July 31. As of June 15, 2022, income tax returns for the fiscal year 2021–2022 & assessment year 2022–2023 can be filed.

The deadline for submitting taxes was really supposed to be extended this year, but the government has already made it apparent that it won’t. If you have  Form-16, fill it out right away. You can be subject to a fine if you don’t complete it by the due date. In addition, the workload grows as more taxpayers use the Income Tax E-filing website to submit their taxes. If you just want to prevent issues with income tax filing in this circumstance, need not wait until the end.
